This article is a critical discussion on a co-modification and representation of Islam in Indonesian’s private televisions today. This article uses a co-modification and representation theory to get a deep understanding on the topic. As major religion in Indonesia, Islam is one of the largest financial resources for the private televisions. Realizing the potency, some of private televisions release some new programs, which negotiate some ideological-religious aspects with television world. To attain the main goal in getting advertisements from the goods and service industries, the creative teams from televisions or production houses have done co-modification religious values into typical visual images or stories. The consequence of the process is the appearing of particular representation of formalistic Islam in televisions. The result of the studies is that ‘television Islam’ represents both trendy modes of ustadz and cruelty and instant blessing of the God.
